Mrs. Erika Check To All Instructors
I am very excited to return to Heritage to teach Physical Science! My family and I were blessed to be at Heritage for three years and now our two daughters are in college. My dream has always been to teach, but my dad convinced me to become a doctor, so I began that program at Taylor University, but finished with a Chemistry and Spanish bachelor's degree after realizing it was not for me. I got the opportunity to work at Abbott/TAP for about 7 years before staying at home with my kids. It was during that time that I was able to homeschool my children. I am so very thankful for that time and learned so much myself going through the program. It was there my passion for teaching renewed itself, and I went back to school to earn my Master of Arts in Secondary Education from National Louis University. From there, I taught at a private school for 2 years and public school for 4 years. I had the privilege of teaching all levels of chemistry and biology, as well as physics. This past year, I took off to take care of my mother-in-law, who has stage 4 cancer. It has been such a blessing to be with her, and I was excited to take the opportunity to teach one day a week again this upcoming year because I really miss working with the kids. I enjoy hiking, learning, and exploring new places and ideas. I have recently grown a love for iced coffee and Clash of Clans. I am really looking forward to getting back into the homeschool world and helping to equip and empower students to think critically and stand for truth.
